Suzy
Suzy has taught, performed and choreographed throughout California and Colorado for the past 20 years. She holds an M.A. in Dance History from Mills College in Oakland, California and is a member of the Society of Dance History Scholars. Locally, she was the founding Artistic Director of 3rd Ave Dance Company. Suzy has choreographed for 3rd Ave Dance Company, Fort Lewis College Theater Department, San Juan College Theater Department, the Diamond Circle Melodrama, Snowdown Follies, Sandstone Productions and Durango Performing Arts Company. She has taught for 12 years in the Four Corners area, and currently she teaches the Jazz and social dance programs at Durango Dance. She is the founder of “Take the Lead”, a ballroom dance instruction program in the Durango 9R School district. When she is not dancing she loves to read and finds that the inspiration for most of her choreography comes from her favorite books. She lives in Durango with her husband David and daughter Rosie. Upon her first steps into Maria's Bookshop Suzy fell in love. She has always wanted to work here, and is so excited to be a part of the Maria's family!
