What You Don't Know About the San Juans: Geologist Rob Blair and Friends at the Durango Discovery Museum

Here in Southwestern Colorado, we are lucky to be able to call the San Juan Mountains our backyard. Their rugged peaks and rich mineral content have fueled our economies and fed our souls…but how much do we really know about them?
"What You Don't Know About the San Juans" will highlight the physical environments, the biological communities, and the human history of the San Juan mountains, as collected for the two volumes Rob Blair has edited, The Eastern San Juan Mountains and The Western San Juan Mountains, both published by the University Press of Colorado.
The contributions to these guides include Fort Lewis College geologists, biologists, archaeologists, historians, and other specialists. Together they have amassed more than one hundred years of study based not only on previous work but on their own research. Confirmed presenters, all of whom have contributed to one or both of the volumes, include Julie Korb, Ros Wu, Andy Gulliford, Pat Richmond, Duane Smith, Rob Blair, Mary Gillam George Bracksieck and Scott White.
Sales of the books will benefit both the Durango Discovery Museum and San Juan Mountains Undergraduate Research Fund at the Fort Lewis College Foundation.
The event is free and open to the public. Maria's Bookshop will provide books for sale.
