Meet the Authors: Western Voice Chroniclers Corinne Platt and Meredith Ogilby
After a chance reunion, co-authors Platt and Ogilby began a four-year journey to define the West through its people. As they met with the major players, they asked some essential questions, such as: How has the West defined you? Where do you think the West is heading, and what is your role? Are you hopeful about the future of the West?
The answers to these questions address the different passions and opinions regarding a multitude of issues impacting the West. Accompanying each profile is a photograph, taken by Ogilby, of each individual in his or her own element, whether that be near a bale of hay, on a college campus, or among a heard of sheep.
Voices of the American West tackles such topics as education, immigration, ranching, alternative energy, wildlife habitat protection, oil and gas extraction, urban development and water conservation. The collection features Terry Tempest Williams, Stewart Udall, Katie Lee, Dave Foreman and many others.
