Meet the Artist: Shay M. Lopez

In conjunction with Durango's Fall Gallery Walk, Maria's Bookshop hosts a reception for our very own bookseller Shay M. Lopez. 

A native of the Southwest, Lopez is a self-taught painter and sculptor who is best known for land and waterscape paintings which have appeared on Maria's walls before and for the colorful trout-pattern watercolors currently on display at Durangler's Fly Shop.  Though hs has worked in plaster, bronze, metal and wax, his most recent series of sculpture is a set of improvised, three-dimentional "sketches," each combining one strand of wire with paper-mache components to create whimsical and colorful figures.
