Durango Public Library Literary Festival: Back to the Loincloth--Writers' Workshop with Craig Childs and Amy Irvine

Back to the Loincloth: Hunting & Gathering Sustenance Through the Art of Story
A good story is hard to find; both brutish stalking and careful harvesting skills are required. And then there’s the challenge of transmission—the successful telling that conjures ancient archetypes while inspiring meaningful metaphors.
Join award-winning Western writers Craig Childs and Amy Irvine for a day dedicated to seeking out the stories that both stir the soul and appease the appetite. Class will convene at the Durango Public Library, but will venture out in search of fodder. Participants will explore through observation of the natural world, group discussion and writing exercises how to craft the story that is at once unique and universal—the story that sustains our humanity.
To register, contact libby@mariasbookshop.com. There is a maximum of 20 participants and a $75 registration fee for this workshop.

What to Bring: Pen and notebook, a sack lunch, snacks, water bottle, several layers of clothing (allowing for sun as well as inclement weather—i.e. sun hat, sunglasses, rain jacket, fleece, etc.), and a good pair of walking shoes.
