Legend says that the Purgatoire Canyon in southeastern Colorado holds many secrets. David Cabot finds this out when he enters the Purgatoire and a violent storm overwhelms him. After the storm, and seemingly in another world, he follows a mysterious owl to a village by the river where he meets a girl and falls in love, and where the activities of a bruja who resides in a proximate canyon, disrupts the lives of the villagers.
